If you have a partner i work for him/her as well, and will do everything in order to support him/her to be able to support you in the best way possible.

As of April 2019 you can chose seperate services next to the full Doula support packages.

Any woman i support in any way gets access to my very extensive lending library.

For clients outside of the city of Utrecht, or in the case that it is necessary to take a taxi for urgency or night-time travel, I will bill for travel costs. 

For regular appointments (outside Utrecht only), I will travel by public transport and I will bill accordingly- as agreed in advance.

What does a Doula do exactly?

Amy L. Gilliand Ph.D. writes in her book "the heart of the doula" what would happen if the doula dissapeared.. I found this so beautifully illustrative of some of the work i do during a birth that i wanted to share this with you.

If the Doula dissapeared, no one would...

Shut the door

Cover every toe with the blanket

Make sure the curtains overlap

Persevere until we find the right spot

Remind you to ask questions

Repeat what was said during a contraction

Move the yukky towels from your sight and smell right away

Shut the door again

BIRTH PLAN CONSULTATION + LENDING LIBRARY ACCESS

A Birth plan is not about the fact that you can plan the course of birth, it's about becoming educated about all of your options. Together we will look at all different birth scenarios, your values, wishes and preferences and how you can best put them down on paper so that they are clear to your care provider. You will as well recieve tips on how to best communicate those preferences to your care provider, as well as access to different templates, like visual birth plans, examples of real birth plans. This option is also very helpful with a Planned c-section!

POST PARTUM PLAN CONSULTATION + LENDING LIBRARY ACCESS

You might have already prepared yourself for the upcoming birth, but have you also throught about preparing for the period that follows After? We are going to make a post partum plan together and together with your partner talk about expectations, plan how you and your new family can best be supported so that you can optimally recover after the birth.

FEAR OF LABOUR SESSION

Fear of labour can have different sources, it can be fear of the pain, or related to a prior negative experience. I have developed a series of techniques to very practically help you along this path. We will work together in this session and you will get "home work"follow up and opertunity to keep in touch for any questions and support.

You will get an opertunity to glance back at birth through various techniques. I will guide you through them and help you let the puzzle pieces back into place.

Birth Prep / Sibling Prep

BIRTH PREP PRIVATE

A one 6 hour day course incl. lunch during which you and your partner are prepared for birth and the post partum period after. This course can be followed with a birth partner(doula/friend/mother/sister if there is no partner in the picture)

This can also be given in two or three separate sessions of 3 or 2 hours each

DUTCH MATERNITY CARE WORKSHOP

I have developed this workshop with Expat parents in mind. I share all the relevant information you need to know to navigate the system and still find your own path in it. I as well give unique information on the different options within the city of Utrecht.

PLAY SESSION / SIBLING BIRTH PREP

Through play, books, toys and age appropriate tools and methods, I will help prepare toy child(ren) for the transition of becoming a big brother or big sister. I will as well educate them on birth, if you will want your child at the birth- i will prepare him/her for it- on what it's like and how they can help when the baby is here.

SIBLING CARE DURING LABOUR (CHILD DOULA)

I am on call for your family, when it's time for you to give birth i come to your home and can stay with your older child(ren). If you plan on giving birth at home, i can care for your children and make sure your partner can focus on helping you in the birthing process and you can keep your focus. Included in this service is the prior mentioned play session.

Coaching/Mindfulness/Meditation

VIP SESSION OUT IN NATURE

Any one of the consultations can be as well done out in nature. We go for a walk together and find a spot where we can meditate together and take the time to talk about what you might need to prepare yourself for birth. This can include birth plan and post partum planning, fear of labour or birth story listening.

GUIDED MEDITATION & AFFIRMATIONS SESSION

How do you find your calm during this period of great transition, identity change, bodily discomforts and the impending birth. We will work through mindfulness techniques, meditation and affirmations on how you can best find the baseline of your nervous system. I will help you work on your mindset. In the end i will professionally record a meditation just for you. You can use this during pregnancy and post partum period to remember to keep breathing, stay present and calm.
